Ultimate High Ground: Vigilamus (We are Watching), 2009 RAF Fylingdales is the most powerful radar site in the world. Owned and operated by the USA, this truncated pyramid sits on sovereign British Soil and is capable of sensing any orbital object larger than a few inches across within 3,000 miles of its location. The equipment inside of this truncated pyramid, once tasked with serving as part of the early warning network of sites during the cold war, now is primarily tasked with detecting and cataloging the millions pieces of manmade debris, technological space junk, orbiting around the earth in order to protect our most crucial assets: communications (and spy) satellites. On this ancient North Yorkshire moor, scoured smooth by glaciers hundreds of thousands of years ago, Fylingdales serves as a monument to political hubris and technological might, essentially extraterrestrial in nature.
