Although their permit expired in 1988, they continue to pay the trivial amount of $524 per year to siphon off millions of gallons per month, without scrutiny or state regulation. On October 15, 2015 a lawsuit was filed against the US Forest Service for failing to renew the permit or evict Nestlé from the mountainside.
